About

John Deris, founder of Prompt Atlas

Hi, I’m John Deris — the creator of Prompt Atlas.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law and am currently pursuing a postgraduate specialization in Generative AI and Intelligent Agents for Business, complementing my hands-on testing of AI tools with formal study in generative AI, intelligent agents, data, automation, and AI strategy.

My legal education informs how I approach these tests: examining evidence, questioning assumptions, and distinguishing supported conclusions from claims that need verification.

I created this site because choosing the right AI tools has become unnecessarily confusing. Every week a new tool launches with bold claims, polished landing pages, and feature lists that look impressive on paper. But when you actually try to use them for real work — research, writing, customer service, marketing, or decision-making — the difference between marketing and reality becomes clear.

My goal with Prompt Atlas is simple:
Test AI tools the way a small business owner or independent professional would actually use them, then explain clearly what works, what doesn’t, and where the limitations are.

I don’t just list features. I run practical, side-by-side tests with the same prompts and constraints, so you can see how the tools behave in realistic situations instead of relying on marketing copy.

What you’ll find on Prompt Atlas

  • Hands-on reviews of AI tools focused on real small-business tasks

  • Clear comparisons between popular tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and others)

  • Practical guides that help you decide which tool fits your needs

  • Honest notes about limitations, assumptions, and where tools tend to overreach
